Apple iPhone Duo foldable phone revealed with A20 Pro and graphite hinge
The story in short
Apple announced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, featuring an A20 Pro processor and a graphite‑pipe hinge, while reviewers note its steep price compared to rivals.
Apple confirmed on 13 October 2026 that the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, is set to launch soon. The device pairs an enhanced A20 Pro chip with a hinge reinforced by graphite pipes, making it the thinnest smartphone Apple has ever produced.
What we know
According to Notebookcheck, the iPhone Duo uses an "enhanced Apple A20 Pro" and "graphite pipes in the hinge," a design choice that allowed Apple to keep the phone exceptionally thin. The report also calls it "the first foldable iPhone," confirming the novelty of the form factor for the company.
IGN adds that the phone is priced at $1,999, placing it $100 above the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and roughly on par with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which starts at $2,099. The outlet emphasizes that the price reflects the premium build and the need for protective accessories.
Why it matters for gamers
Mobile gamers stand to benefit from the Duo's larger, fold‑out display and the power of the A20 Pro processor, which promises smoother frame rates and quicker load times for high‑intensity titles. The thin profile means the device can be carried like a traditional phone, but the foldable screen offers a tablet‑like canvas for games that support higher resolutions and wider aspect ratios.
However, the premium price and the delicate hinge design raise concerns about durability during intense gaming sessions. The graphite‑pipe hinge, while innovative, may be a point of stress under frequent opening and closing, prompting gamers to look for robust protection.
